Mission Day 1

Our Mission: Go Op-Shopping

Aim: Each child must purchase 1 toy, 1 book and 1 item of clothing each with a $5 budget
Mum needs a decent rain jacket.
Method: Walk to Frankton to visit the Red Cross, then back to Victoria St to visit the three op shops along there.
We need: Drinks, Food, $5 each, warm clothes and walking shoes

How it went:  After making sure Ninja was nice and safe (LOL),we left home at 9.05am... bags packed and ready to go! On our first mission of the holidays, we needed to be rugged up warm as it was FREEZING!
On our way to Frankton we saw two hot air balloons up in the bright blue sky, the kids loved watching them just hang totally still. Certainly a magical thing to a young child. We also saw some rather random sights.. a traffic cone stuck in a bus shelter and some misspelled words.

When we got to Frankton Tobias found some books from the Red Cross, Cassia a dress and Natalia got a cool wee shirt. We walked out of that store and across the road was St Vincent de Paul... we decided to venture over there and see what they had to offer us.  Ilaria found a mug with “sassy chick” on it, she loved it at first sight and HAD to buy it, Tobias got given yet another book.

After a quick snack we ventured back to town and found the 3 op shops on the main street, from which Tobias got more books . Each girl got a wee toy bike, Tobias some jeans and Tobias and Ilaria each got a water pistol.

The buy of the day... would HAVE to be Cassia’s cassette player! She found it in the Salvation Army for $4, we went to the cassette section and found a Hi5 tape and a few others. Put one in and VOILA.. the bloody thing works! Cassia sat herself up on a high barstool.. turned the player up full blast and proceeded to sing the entire shop a song! Always an entertaining child!

So did we acheive our mission? Not really... BUT we had a load of fun! Mission was completed at 12.50.. so roughly 4 hours of walking (which I can always benefit from), the kids had a ball looking around the shops and it got us out of the house for the morning. This afternoon we played with the toys.. the waterguns were made into "lasers", then "guns" to play cops and robbers.

Great day all round... now we get to see what we can get up to tomorrow!
